Frequently Asked Questions
What are Bentwood rings?
Bentwood rings are made out of flexible, thin sheets of wood veneer. It is cut into strips, softened in hot water, then rolled up around a cylindrical form until it is dry. After drying, the ring is rolled and glued to its specific size. This rough blank is shaped and refined on a lathe using various chisels and sanding materials. Optional metal or stone inlays are added. The entire ring is coated and polished using CA adhesive, which provides durability, water-resistance, and a glossy exterior.
How durable are the rings?
Bentwood rings can last for a very long time when properly cared for. It is advisable to take the ring off before exposing to water for prolonged periods, especially if using soaps or detergents as these can wear down the finish. You should also be careful when lifting heavy goods or rigorous sporting activities as wood is a fragile material and needs to be treated with care.
Will my purchase look identical to the pictures?
Not identical, but quite similar. There will be slight variations because wood as a material comes with lots of variety in its grain structure, shading, and colouring. This variation is what makes every single ring completely unique, even if the initial design is the same.
Can I return a ring if it does not fit?
See our Refund Policy. We do not permit refunds or returns for any Bentwood Rings sold, as a result of the meticulous attention and labour put into every custom purchase.
However, if it is a special case where a ring arrived damaged, the wrong ring was received, or other similar situations, please contact us.
